An essential book for Educators of assessment, Highly recommended
An excellent book which is ideal for learners on a range of education and training courses.
Essential information applicable to course content
This book provided sound rationale on why things are what they are, however, I was hoping for more guidance on how to change things.
Interesting to me as a tutor with an interest in assessment. too complex and theoretical for my students in the context of this course. Better suited for masters level study of assessment rather than developing understanding of trainee teachers.
Good reading resources for post reg students.
Slightly too challenging for undergraduate students
Recommended for people doing MA or PhD research in the topic of assessment. The level of research is beyond the scope of Initial teacher Training course for which I evaluated it. But it makes a good case for the need for formative assessment and shows how hallow the exam-based systems have become.
Unfortunately, whilst there was a good deal of information in this book it was not specific enough for our needs.

'Assessment for Education' brings to the fore the crucial role of the teaching profession in shaping an effective assessment framework within our education system. To realise this, teachers must be fully versed in the assessment methodologies and strategies they are able to promote - this book is an excellent platform to build from.
Whilst this text is primarily concerned with schools, it is useful for any context in which assessment is undertaken
