This book is easy to access and is useful on the 'Researching Children' module and Independent study (dissertation). Well written with recent literature and new ideas embedded.
Whilst this is a useful book it doesn't serve the purpose of the module I was intending it for.
This is a very good text. Of particular interest is the focus on Participatory approaches in research. If you are stuck for ideas on how and why to carryout research with children then you should invest in this text.

An essential guide for anyone considering doing research with children and young people. It is easy to overlook some important methodological and ethical issues when considering research with children and young people and this book provides very useful guide in how to overcome these pitfalls. I will be adding this text to my reading list for the undergraduate research module. I will also be recommending the book to Masters students whose dissertations focus on research with this group of potential participants.
This book is essential for anyone contemplating or engaged in research with children, covering every aspect of the research process in an accessible, readable and engaging yet appropriately challenging way. There is an important word in the book's title that sums up the prevailing ethos of the book: 'with'. This book really is for 'doing research with children'.
An easily read and understood text book, yet it includes enough detail to make a real contribution to assisting students with doing research with children.
Greig's text does indeed provide a practical guide for my students and does so via a format which is comprehensive but not overwhelming and the students appear to appreciate a text that relates directly to their vocational areas, as, in the not too distant past, it was very difficult to find such a tome, instead having 'adapt' research 'guides' aimed at health and social work and general social science markets. It also appears accessible to students undetaking practitioner-based research for the first time and when used alongside Mukherji and Albon's 'Research Methods in Early Childhood', provides my cohorts with sufficient detail to plan, execute and write-up module-level, under graduate projects.
College staff here will strongly advocate the adoption of this book as a key text at the next University module reading list up-date opportunity.
