This is a really useful introductory textbook aimed primarily at undergraduates undertaking their own research projects. However, it is pitched at a level that is just right for postgraduates with little or no previous experience of qualitative research who are embarking on research as part of taught courses. What is particularly nice about the book is that it is practically oriented, going through each of the key stages of designing and conducting a research project, helping to demystify some of the processes that tend not to be well-covered in methods textbooks, such as coming up with a research question, ethics, evaluating research and writing up research projects. I will definitely be recommending this book to the trainee clinical psychologists I teach as I feel that it will help to take some of the fear out of the research process.
An excellent, comprehensive book that clearly navigates students through the stages of their qualitative research project.
This basic but comprehensive introduction offers students an almost handbook experience that will prove very useful in moments of doubt.
