Discourse analysis is a subject that needs to have clear direction as to how it can be developed for a student to understand its benefits. This book offers such advice and provides a clear structure to the use of discourse analysis
Possibly the clearest introduction to discourse analysis that I have come across in a while. Surprisingly jargon-free, and paying attention to several traditions within the broad field of discourse analysis. A bit more on the critical strands of discourse analysis would have made this text even better. But still a definite recommended reading for courses on qualitative research methods.
The 2 first chapters were adopted as required reader for the module. It was a short but quite good introduction to discourse analysis.
A valuable resource for students undertaking research where the discursive nature of language is considered.
